Description
English: The Vijayanta main Battle Tank was instrumental in rout of Pak forces in the Punjab Theatre during the Indo-Pak war in 1971. The tank was manufactured based on a licensed design of the Vickers MK I Tank and was inducted into the Armoured corps in 1965 the tank had an accurate 105 MM 17A2 riffled gun which destroyed many Pakistani Tanks and Defenses. The tank went to war for the first time with 66 Armoured Regiment. the Regiment led a bold charge on the enemy into the battle of Burj-Fathepur in the Amritsar sector due to the stellar performance combined with the bravery of its crews, 66 Armoured Regiment was awarded the "Punjab" theater honor in recognition of the outstanding performance in the Indo-Pak war. Vijayanta have served the nation commendably and have been the mainstay on the Indian Armoured Corps for over 35 years. the nation salutes this chariot of fire on whose bare back rode the iron men of Armourned Corps all the way to the pinnacle of Martial Excellence.
