The rocks exposed in the cliff comprise continental sandstones and shales (and subordinate coal and bituminous limestone) of the uppermost portion of the Joggins-Formation (in the foreground, left and center) and the lowermost portion of the overlying Springhill Mines Formation (right, in the midground, towards the headland), Cumberland-Group, Pennsylvanian of the Cumberland Basin.
