Summary

Description

The M10 Wolverine "Porc-Épic" of the 8nd RCA (1st french army) which took part in the Colmar Pocket battle and always visible at the place even where it was destroyed near Illhaeusern (Alsace, France) on January 26th, 1945. Three members of its crew, whose Claude Beaufils, René Cardot and René Garnier, were killed during this action.

This tank of 8° RCA - 3° Escadron - 2° Peloton was destroyed by fire from one of the 708 ° Jagdpanzer Volksgrenadier Division. The MDL Marc SAMIN (d. 1991), tank commander seriously wounded in both legs during the fight, clearly remembered the perfect circle of flame shot out of the Jagdpanzer. At the same time, he opened fire and destroyed the jadgpanzer.

Returned to the scene a few years later, he found that, hampered by snow, the tanks were both understated the distance between them, and fired a little low.
