English: On 21 November 1783 Pilâtre de Rozier made the first manned free flight in history, accompanied by the Marquis d'Arlandes. During the 25-minute flight using a Montgolfier hot air balloon, they traveled 12 kilometers from the château of La Muette to the Butte aux Cailles in the then outskirts of Paris, attaining an altitude of 3000 feet.
Français : Le 21 novembre 1783, Pilâtre de Rozier effectue le premier vol libre habité de l'histoire, accompagné du marquis d'Arlandes. Au cours du vol de 25 minutes en montgolfière, ils ont parcouru 12 kilomètres du château de La Muette à la Butte aux Cailles dans la banlieue parisienne de l'époque, atteignant une altitude de 3000 pieds.
