Tallado en el respaldo el mueble ostenta el Escudo de la Confederación Argentina.
El habitualmente denominado "Sillón de Rivadavia" -que nunca existió como objeto ni como símbolo de mando- es un mito instalado en el inconsciente colectivo nacional, que alude simbólicamente al cargo de Presidente de la Nación.
