  1. There should be a "WikipediA" (with the letters between the W and A in small caps) text below the logo, at least for the Latin Wikipedias.
    • yes.. uhm. I wanted to be sensitive to people without my charcter set? I couldnt find a good font? uhm, I wanted to show how international it is?
  2. Where does the butterfly come from? If it is copied from elsewhere, there might be problems with using it.
    • No clue, ripped the original from the hebrew wikipedia, waiting on the original author to let me know whats up.
  3. Which book do we see there, or is it just a stylization?
    • I think its just a stylization.. looks old though, most handwritten books are PD by now.. ;)
  4. Most annoying: the butterfly is cut off at the top left corner.
    • I know... If I get an original, I'll fix this...
  5. Does not appear to exist in a vector graphics version -- not scalable.
    • Correct. It was just an idea. I just liked the idea of an old handwritten and illustrated book fading into binary code, I figured it represented the timelessness and evolution of knowledge, especially because it was a mathbook
  6. No transparency.
    • i could fix that.. but it was just so much easier doing it this way. just because IE doesnt support full png alpha and cheese.

I like the butterfly, and the left-hand side of the book. The 010101 binary part is lame though... Just my 2 cents. It's a nice start anyway, I hope to see new submissions soon.134.22.139.19 23:38 20 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Haven't registered here yet. Hi, I'm Liad Weinberger, the composer of the original artwork. The book and the butterfly are models made in 3DS-MAX. The Book's pages are just textures I generated in Photoshop. The picture in the book is of me... ;-)

The original betterfly is a free model DLed from a web page (with no restrictions). Anyhow, I made lots of changes to the original model. There's no likelyness between them. I could if you think there's a problem with that, generate a completely original model of a butterfly.

BTW in the original image, the left side of the book is actually the right side. Vertical flipping of the original gave the text in the book a right-to-left justification (The original, though in a Hebrew site, was left-to-right).

Hey Liad, good stuff. The 1010101 stuff would be nice if it looked like it was on the page, instead of in 2D (which the book is in 3D). 129.97.90.101 16:06 21 Jul 2003 (UTC)
