Project scope[edit]

  • Group(s) of 5 members along with mentor will work on English Wikipedia. The objective is to improve the quality and increase the number of articles on English Wikipedia.
  • Group(s) of 5 members along with mentor will work on Hindi Wikipedia. The objective is to improve the quality and increase the number of articles on Hindi Wikipedia.
  • Group(s) of 5 members along with mentor will work on Marathi Wikipedia. The objective is to improve the quality and increase the number of articles on Marathi Wikipedia.
  • Group(s) of 5 members along with mentor will work on Bengali Wikipedia. The objective is to improve the quality and increase the number of articles on Bengali Wikipedia.
  • Group(s) of 5 members along with mentor will work on Gujarati Wikipedia. The objective is to improve the quality and increase the number of articles on Gujarati Wikipedia.
  • In addition to engaging in collaborative editing in the above mentioned Indic Wikipedias, the group will also contribute to:
  • Wiktionary
  • Commons
  • GLAM
  • Club activities will include:
  • Lead fun Wikipedia Orientation workshops
  • Periodic Interesting Field Trips to various places (Multiplexes,theaters,car factories,blood banks etc)
  • Wikification of collected content during field trips
  • Increase Content on Indic Language Wikipedia
  • Engage in collaborative editing to improve quality of articles
  • Conduct tours like Wikipedia Loves Pune
  • Hold trivia nights and organize social events to raise awareness
  • Represent Wikipedia at student fairs/college fests to recruit new editors and participants
  • Conduct outreach sessions on campus to increase awareness amongst students, faculty and administrative staff at the university.
  • Spread awareness about Pune Wikipedians and various Wiki activities.
  • This would be a major outreach program that would boost the growth of Wikimedia projects in English & other Indic Wikipedias amongst students.
  • Wikimedia India Programs team has promised resources in terms of people as well as organisational support as may be required by the Club.

Project Goal[edit]

  • Reach out to more students to increase their understanding of how Wikimedia projects work, and enable them to pass this knowledge on to others.
  • Improving and building upon contributions to Wikimedia projects in English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Commons etc.
  • Increasing visibility, reach and access to Wikimedia projects amongst students, especially in Pune.
  • Sign up students interested in our various activities & any other training workshops planned.
  • Conduct outreach sessions in universities, student fests, fairs etc.

Measure of success[edit]

We will be able to report on:

  • Number of outreach programs done in various universities
  • Number of fests/student fairs we participate in
  • Number of workshops, trivia nights, field trips we conduct
  • New contributors to the Indic language & English Wikipedias (unmeasurable)
  • There are, of course, things that cannot be tangibly measured, such as the impact of the larger participation of club members in the dissemination of the free culture and access to knowledge via Wikipedia/Wikimedia.
