Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

We had interesting guest who gave insights to community topics of interest, audience liked to listen to activities related to global events like Wikimania, Wiki Indaba and campaigns like WikiForHumanRights, Wiki-Green Conference and more. I think what really went on well for us was our consistency in providing the community with a variety of capacity building activities, speaker engagement, highlighting the works of some members in the community.

  • What did not work so well?

We had issues with the quality sound , lagging internet, the hardware and software tools weren't efficient enough for us to use

  • What would you do differently next time?
  1. We will increase the number of tools we have in-terms of both software and hardware in other to have more impact.
  2. Eventhough we had good social media engagement we will like to increase activities related to social media
  3. We will engage communities running campaigns on climate and beyond and we will do this in partnership with local and global communities
  4. We will look at the technical community more, because the activities they engage in are not been heard widely by the community, doing will enable people join the community.
  5. We will also like to involve other topics of interest that is outside wiki activities but they use wikipedia as a tool to share knowledge of their works, some of these are metaverse, blockchain ai and more. The reason for this is because we conducted a survey and these activities were necessary in other to blend wiki activities with them, looking at how wikipedia can better represent everything we do
  6. We will also engage some local language groups, the reason is because language is on the rise and we need to watch them as they grow as a minority group
