Hmmm... A leaf-cutter ant holding a puzzle piece to put it in? I don't quite know how to do that. If someone had a modeled ant for POV-Ray, I'd be able to put it in. It seems like a good idea, but to see an ant repeatedly on the same place on the globe might make me subconciously wonder why it never moved. Or... maybe I just sort of like a cold, neutral (?) symbol... I'm mildly opposed to it, but I don't know why.

If only we could develop images in a wiki.... Anyways, it's getting late (by my time), and I should never philosophize when I should be sleeping... I'll think about this tommorrow. Paullusmagnus 02:48 21 Jul 2003 (UTC)

I do really like the idea. A logo should be something simple. This is simple. When I look at this, I think about earth (the sphere), and about something in construction.

I also thing about vandalism (the blue lines). I do really thing that it would be best without the blue lines.

Another thing, the "large" image isn't nice, isn't there a way to have the large one nicer ?

I used too small an image for the spherical mapping. Shrinking the final image by a factor of 2 or so should fix it, but it would be best if I just went back and used a larger source image.

The blue lines represent the wiki links. Here's a blue-less image (note that now it is completely grayscale, which is one of the things that some people don't like about our current logo). I haven't decided which I think is better.

Yes ! Now, you do the same, but instead of the blue lines, you make them green. I don't know what the blue lines really define, but make them define the w:ecozones in green, and that would be great to me :-) User:anthere

Can I suggest that you make the jigsaw pieces look less... well.. jigsaw like? And make the blue lines look like they're linking together different pieces? Kwekubo

What do you mean by "jigsaw like"? Are you thinking of just having polygons that fit together, sort of like the areas surrounded by blue are?

That interface needs polishing, go for something like the new mozilla.org instead it gives more value. //Andreas

All of the colored lines are suggestive of graffiti rather than text. I say you should take more or less random letters from the different alphabets used on Wikipedia: maybe five to ten from the Latin alphabet, one or two uniquely Cyrillic, one Hebrew, one Arabic, and a character each from Japanese and Chinese.
P.S: If you want them to represent wikilinks, you should have them run between actual nodes. -Smack 23:59 21 Jul 2003 (UTC)

How's this? The black squiggles are supposed to look like text-- I think that they look like handwriting, so I also have a version (which I haven't uploaded yet) with a yellowed background. I don't have any Unicode fonts that have Oriental characters, so I can't think of an easy way to get real text yet.

I've also been considering putting the Earth on the puzzle instead.

By "nodes" do you refer to the puzzle pieces? The image about a screenful above this is manually connected that way, but maybe it doesn't look much like it. I'll see about redoing it with nonfuzzy lines and a better layout so that it doesn't look spraypainted. Paullusmagnus 01:39 22 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Perhaps a few links between adjacent pieces would help? Also, try making a version where some of the jigsaw pieces are coloured - you could try the pastel colours found on the French and other Wikis. I think the text idea needs to be made much clearer, too. -- Kwekubo
