Talk:Recent Changes redesign 2002

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Erik, I really like this redesign of the Recent Changes page. I would like it available as a "verbose" option. Could we have a checkbox on our Set User Preferences page to see recent changes as "regular" or "verbose"?

I would especially like the verbose mode when investigating vandalism reports. --208.246.35.243 14:24 Dec 3, 2002 (UTC)

I'm sure it will be handy for some. I like to see all the overnight edits, and since I'm asleep when most editing happens (I'm on GMT), I need to load about 1000 - 1500. That many in verbose form would take a very long time ...! -- tarquin

Me like. However I proposed something very similar back in August but LDC said that such a thing would lag the server. So server performance is an important consideration. I also like Ed's idea to have this be the "verbose" option. --Maveric149 18:21 Dec 3, 2002 (UTC)

I think it would be nice to apply a "Category Filter", that's to say see the recent changes for articles belonging to a given category.

There's a danger to making Recent changes pretty - slower page-load, less managable (paradoxically) for lots of text. Some browsers have problems scrolling along a large table.

Personally I have no problem at all with the current RC output. --Alfakim 21:40, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd really welcome a re-design of the RC page!
How about an extension that takes care of this, so every wiki admin could decide for himself whether he wants a pretty or a fast-loading page there!? Or maybe such an extension already exists (I couldn't find one)? -- FND 11:32, 13 February 2007
