Urban Wetland Protection and Advocacy Campaign in Rwanda 2023 aims at raising awareness on Wikimedia projects on addressing the effects of environmental threats caused by the encroachment of ecological system by human anthropogenic activities in our neighborhood, loss of biodiversity as well as pollution, loss of some important species and threats them from their comfortable habitat in wetlands, which is highly contributing on environmental degradation and contributing as well to the increasing climate change consequences. This campaign will provide an approach to community conservation on our continent in nowadays ecological protection. And endogenous knowledge can contribute to and inform future decision-making.

Context

  • Create and improve articles about Climate of Rwanda with more emphasis on urban wetland protection and advocacy.
  • Capacity building for new and existing editors about the proper usage of Wikimedia's projects, and how to contribute on them.
  • Community outreach and planting trees with intention of showcasing the importance of protecting the environment based on their daily activities.
