Abstract (up to 300 words to describe your proposal)

Learn the techniques this model has to offer in bringing in volunteer (developers) Wikimedians in the movement and retaining them over time to grow an alliance of African Developers.

What will attendees take away from this session?
  • How to replicate this model and use it as a tool to indoctrinate themselves (as a start) and other developers to contribute to the Wikimedia mission and movement from their community.
  • They’ll have access to all the materials, documents and myself (for contact anytime - for support) in order to help grow a community of volunteer developers in their country.
  • If possible, an extended one on one chat with me during the conference on more tips and specific advice on being a volunteer Wikimedia developer to solve real problems.
  • This model has been proven to work for at least 80% reckoning as of today. It’s expected to retain a minimum number of 3 out of 5 very active developers for a period of 2 - 3 years time frame.
  • Phases of the VSDR-d3 model to retain developers a particular community.
  • Attendees will also learn about the B.Th (Below Threshold) , Th (Threshold) and A.Th (Above Threshold) values of the Energy (amount of work) against Time (in years) graph for building an ecosystem of volunteer developers.
