Explain your plan[edit]

Tell us about how you contribute currently, and how you would contribute if WMF were to gift a used laptop to you.

I use to contribute with the laptop I had (Which is currently dead since January 2023) so now I sometimes contribute from my office and with the other laptop, I borrow from my family members, this significantly affects my contribution work.

I am an electronics engineer from India, I have been a Wikimedian since 2013 with more than 130,500 Global edits. I mostly edit on Fiji-Hindi Wikipedia, Wiktionary (I am Admin on both), Commons (Contributions) (uploaded 127 quality images ) and Wikidata. I am a member (Vice-Chair and Treasurer) of Affiliations Committee, Vice-Chair Commons Photographers User Group founder member of Hindi Wikimedians User Group and Ex-EC member of Wikimedia India chapter. Developing new electronic gadgets, photography, interacting with people, learning new things, listening to Indian classical music, and watching plays are my hobbies. I was a full scholarship recipient of Wikimania 2019, Stockholm, and GLAMWiki Conference 2018, Tel Aviv. I am a COT member of WikiConference India 2023 (https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiConference_India_2023) and leading Partnerships.

Currently, I am working on the Internet in a Box (IIAB) hardware to make this device easy to install and control in public places. I also contribute to various like-minded projects to the Wikimedia movement, such as ‘Common Voice’ by Mozilla. Raspberry Pi Foundation (JAM organizer), OpenCon, and Internet Archive.

I am volunteering in various UN Environment Programme and campaigns, Google Local Guides (Level 9), and a member of the National Ataxia Foundation.

I get a good quality hardware laptop

  • It will increase my Quality image contributions (as many images require Post processing).
  • Effective contribution to projects like Lingua-Libre. and also a Hardware hack on how to make a simple DIY low-cost soundproof chamber (I am working on that)
  • As I am involved in hardware development of IIAB (Internet in A Box) and other hacks related to photography and sound recording and other Hardware Hacks which require a good laptop with high processing and RAM and currently I can not afford it.
  • I am also actively involved in outreach programs Click here to see my offline involvement where I need to do presentations and not having a Laptop is always a big challenge recently I faced during my presentation in Wikiconference India.
  • I am presenting 4 sessions in Wikimania Singapore 2023 and organising Photowalk, where one of my sessions will be on 'Internet-in-a-Box + Hardware Addons'.

So I will use this laptop to increase the quality of my photography, Hardware hacks, outreach, and during partnership presentations, etc.

  2. Suyash contribute Wikimedia projects in various roles. Not only as an active editor, but also as an organisator of outreach activities and work related to governance, all his contributions requires him use a laptop. I endorse providing such hardworking contributor getting supported by hardware donation.Basak (talk) 20:39, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  3. As a hard-working contributor, Suyash needs his tools to perform his WIkimedia-related duties and that's a strong point already. As he works with imagery as well (so do I, with my concert photography contributions) I totally understand his need for a robust platform that will make photo editing painless. His other commitments also make him a solid recipient of a hardware donation in the form of a laptop. Full support. Wojciech Pędzich Talk 21:45, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
