5 to 7 hours a week, that will increase (!)[edit]

«The time commitment we are looking for is on average 5 to 7 hours a week but this will increase in the run up to the event.»

I think this is an over-estimation for most volunteers that can scares them, keeping them away. It's maybe true for some people but unclear in which position. If it's true, I would invite in write something more specific like, "usually 7 hours a week for the COT", and "2 hours a week for volunteers", etc. in order to be less vague and less scarying ihih. Saying 5-7 hours a week and "increasing", it's just incompatible with most human beings with another job or with a family etc. ihih Valerio Bozzolan (talk) 08:21, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

    • For 2021 it varied between 1 or 2 90min meetings a week, plus other adhoc activities like reviewing submissions, scholarships, creating pages on wiki, maybe answer some chat messages as deadlines near, or the event starts. Most of the time is something that can be incorporated when it suits the individual. All of the time commitment will be subject to the decisions of 2022 COT members themselves. How's the core team coming? What do you need (given the core team so far)?[edit]

It's nice to see this refactoring of essential roles, but unusual not to have any people listed as already involved / not to have any rolling way to participate. It would be great to update here what further experience or roles are being looked for, or a link to a page for general rolling interest + what people would be interested in. [maybe an early team could be "wiki updating + communication + publicity"]

I found the list of applicants and made it a bit more visible on the page.

Are there specific parts of last year's mania that are projected to be reprised? Ways for organizers of other online events to coordinate? Ways to start thinking about video/multimedia needs now, given the delay in uploading from last year? –SJ talk  23:16, 27 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
