Range block

Getting started on Phabricator

Greetings, ambassador!

As recently discussed within this group, we are ready to experiment with setting up a project and its related workboard on Phabricator, the platform used in the Wikimedia movement for project management, software bug reporting and feature requests. It will help us coordinate and cooperate better on projects that should require ambassadors' involvement.

For the time being, I'm just asking that you please add your Phabricator nickname next to your name in the ambassadors' table (you can create an account now if you don't have one already). New Tech Ambassadors Phabricator board

Block in trwiki

Hello, I'm Ahmet Turhan from Turkish Wikipedia. I have been contributing to Turkish Wikipedia for about 6 years. In this process, I have contributed more than 60,000. created more than 1000 article, 8 featured article (5 in progress), 3 good article (3 in progress). Plus I formulated and joined a lot of Wikipedia projects. I have also written Wikipedia essays, information pages and guidelines based on my own experiences on Wikipedia, which I have contributed for years. There were still articles and projects I worked with. Therefore, I think I know Wikipedia policies and guidelines. There are all my contribution.

Today, I was unfairly blocked by User:Mskyrider for 5 years. The background of the subject is as follows;

I have been contributing to the articles about the Soviet Union as a hobby for years in Wikipedia. At the beginning of 2017, I created a comprehensive complaint content that I was intensely attacked by a user named User:Maurice Flesier. It can be seen here. The content of this complaint was: insist on personal comments, harassment in the summary of changes, personal insults on the discussion pages of various articles, etc. Since then, the whole community has known its problem with me. For this reason, he has received often warnings and blocked. It can be seen here. A discussion with this user started again yesterday in article tr:Diktatör. He put the images of Hitler and Stalin in the article, and I reverse it by telling it to be discussed first by en:WP:BRD. And I wrote my reason on the discussion page. It was that: "Direct identification has been made, Such definitions should not be made from Wikipedia. Let the reader decide." Then he became aggressive and wrote the following comment on the article's discussion page: "Keep your bullshit trials for yourself and try to be a little neutral. In the meantime, take a look at how the tracking works Mskyrider." Just after, Maurice Flesier reported that I am not neutral, and therefore I should be stopped.

On the other hand, there were smear attempts of Mskyrider again for myself. It can be seen here. The majority of the community said that he was wrong here. Since then, I think he has hostility towards me. While doing this, I argue that he used his administrator power.

Due to these harassment and controversy, the fetured topics and articles I tried to create on Wikipedia have stopped. (here all of this).

As a user who has given my years to Wikipedia, I know that this barrier has been given unfairly, and that the community deserves me in such discussions. I see that Mskyrider has been blocking me for 5 years with his grudge against me. I request re-thinking his administrative qualifications with the community, the decision of the obstacle given to me be consulted by the community, discussion with other administrator and unblocking.

Now that the reasoning is clear, I'd like to ask how exactly my username was inappropriate. I've read a Google-translated version of the username policy on trwiki you had linked in the block summary, and I couldn't find any rule my username violates. As far as I understood from en:Turkish language#Turkish computer keyboard, Turkish also uses the QWERTY layout. How is that random then? On Turkish Wikipedia, the rules are generally applied according to the Turkish language. Your username fits the part where the letters and numbers are written at random in our policy (eg: 12345asdf12345, asdf12345). Usernames similar to your username have been blocked by different admins. I even look at the meanings of global users in their own language that cause complaints in some blocking requests on Turkish Wikipedia. In this way, there were users that I didn't block them. I would like to Superyetkin unblock you, but this would be unfair to other blocked users. --Uncitoyen^talk 15:30, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

@Uncitoyen: I find "random" pretty vague personally. I agree with you. We, as admins, block the random names through ourselves and other users' attentions. You are right in your worries yourself. Even if my username is blocked, I would do the same searches. I have made an assessment of our policy. meseleyi kişisel hâle getirmen kötü bir şey. neden engellendiğim engel kaydında açıkça yazıyor. öbürleri ise kullanıcıların kendi fikirleri. sadece "haha hehe" bile yazmama trollük dediler ona bakarsan. burada mesele ben değilim, sensin. ne yani? ben engellenmişim diye bunlara göz mu yummalıyım? ben şu an sadece elimi kirletiyorum. YİB, yeni kullanıcıları ısırma, w:tr:VP:KSY ihlalleri mevcut.

ek olarak Veli2050'nin(ve diğerlerinin) kullanıcı sayfasına dava olmadan bi şey olmadan "kukladır" diye yazıyorsun.. bu da olmaması gereken bir şey.
