Wikimedia Canada is the Canadian local chapter proposed to Wikimedia Foundation. These pages are designed to create a Canadian association that promotes free knowledge by supporting Wikimedia projects.
Since 2005, several contributors are working to establish a national bilingual association, whose goal is to represent Wikimedia users and participants in Canadian schools, library, instututions, but also in the press, media and others. The association also planned dissemination, improvement and advancement of knowledge free.
At first, a Steering Committee was formed to coordinate efforts and guide participants interested in the incorporation of a local chapter of Canada. They also have the mandate to create the by-laws of the non-profit association, in compliance with Canadian laws.
