Wikimedia Grantee Perception Survey

I am interested in knowing how WMF grantees feel about the Wikimedia Grants Process and how their experience in getting a grant was. I have therefore drafted the following questions that I will later use to prepare a survey. Feel free to redact or add any questions that you think should also be asked. Overall Satisfaction

Can you rate:

• your interactions with Foundation Staff? (fairness, responsiveness, approachability.)
• Clarity of communication of WMF's goals and strategy. Was there clear and consistent articulation of objectives?
• Transparency of the process.
• your satisfaction relative to last year?

Grantee Interactions

• Are you comfortable with the interactions on the talk page?
• How responsive was the Foundation staff?
• Are you comfortable approaching the Foundation if any problem arises?
• Frequency of grantee contact with Program Officer during grant (weekly, monthly, once every few months)
• Initiation of interactions (most frequently initiated by grantee; initiated with equal frequenct by grantee and program officer; most frequently initiated by program officer)

Primary Contact Transition

• Has your primary contact at the Foundation changed in the past six months?

Non-Monetary Assistance

• Does the Foundation offer Management Assistance? (general management advice, strategic planning advice, financial planning/accounting, development of performance measures)
• Does the Foundation offer Field-related Assistance? (encourage collaboration, introduction to leaders in field, provide best practices)
• Does the Foundation offer Other Assistance? (Board development, Communication/publicity assistance, Use of Foundation facilities, Staff/management training)

Assistance securing funding from other sources

• Proportion of grantees receiving assistance securing funding from other sources.
• Rate the impact of the funder's assistance securing funding from other sources.

Grant Process and Administration

• How did you find the funding application? (cumbersome, easy, difficult to complete)
• Level of involvement of staff in development of grant proposal.
• Level of pressure to modify grantees' priorities to create a request that was likely to receive funding.
• Time elapsed between submission and clear commitment of funding.
• How did you find the reporting requirements?
• Ease of wiring funds (Forex rates, country legal requirements)
• How does the amount of information requested in the Foundation's application and reporting requirements compare to the amount requested by your other funders?
