- What experience do you have participating on committees, within or outside the Wikimedia movement?
- I possess extensive experience in committee participation both within and outside the Wikimedia movement. Currently, I hold the position of Vice-Chair and Treasurer on the Affiliations Committee within the Wikimedia movement. Additionally, I have served as the Vice-Chair of the Commons Photographers User Group. Furthermore, I've held the role of Administrator on the Fiji Hindi Wikipedia and Fiji Hindi Wiktionary. I also serve as a COT member and coordinator for the Partnerships Committee at WikiConference India 2023. Additionally, I have contributed as an MCDC member selector for the SARC region. A founding member of the Hindi Wikimedians User Group, I actively participated and served on the Executive Committee of the Wikimedia India Chapter from May 2017 to November 2018. I am also a Movement Charter Ambassador. In addition to my Wiki experience, I proudly took on the role of lead organizer for Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in India, where one of the winning entries hailed from India. I have also served as a UCoC Facilitator. I have also collaborated with the Government of India GLAM institutions and represented Wikipedia, hosting a stall at the World Hindi Conference in Mauritius. Beyond Wikimedia, I contribute to various like-minded projects, such as Creative Commons and ‘Common Voice’ by Mozilla. I am an organizer for the Raspberry Pi Foundation (JAM) and contribute to OSM, OpenCon, and the Internet Archive. Additionally, I volunteer in various UN Environment Programme campaigns, hold the status of Google Local Guides (Level 9), and am a member of the National Ataxia Foundation.
- What skills, experience, or perspective would you bring or contribute to the committee, if appointed?
- My decade-long commitment to the movement, AffCom expertise of 3 years, timezone flexibility (+5.30 UTC), and multilingual proficiency (in 15+) uniquely qualify me to contribute effectively to the committee. I love to meet people and learn about their culture, which will foster closer collaboration with our wonderful contributors and affiliates around the world.
- Is there any other pertinent information that you would like us to take into account when reviewing your application?
- As I have been part of AffCom for 3 years, I have institutional memories, and my multilinguistic knowledge and availability in wide time zones will always be helpful to the committee.
- Which sub-committee are you interested in working with (Conflict Intervention, Recognitions)?: Recognitions sub-committee
- What do you think are the benefits and responsibilities of functioning as formal affiliates, and when is a group of Wikimedians ready to form an affiliate?
- The decision to form an affiliate is driven by Wikimedians when a cohesive group with a clear vision for their community emerges, dedicated to advancing the shared goals of Knowledge as a Service and Knowledge Equity. This undertaking demands a steadfast commitment to its mission, coupled with a fundamental capability for self-governance. In some cases, fiscal responsibility becomes essential, especially when seeking to receive and manage funding. These stringent criteria ensure that formal affiliates align with the principles and objectives of the Wikimedia Movement.
- Please describe your experience working with conflict resolution, and how you have helped build consensus and support diversity.
- In my community, numerous occasions arose where long-standing conflicts surfaced, such as debates on the preferred number system or writing style on Wikipedia. Some of these discussions negatively impacted community dynamics. However, I successfully addressed and resolved these issues, reaching a consensus through in-person meetings and calls within our community.
Endorsements (Suyash Dwivedi)
[edit]- Strong support Suyash has the enthusiasm, dedication and commitment in pursuing his goals. I have worked with him as a Board at Commons Photographers User Group for almost 2 years, and he has all the qualities needed to serve for another term at the AffCom. --Filipinayzd (talk) 13:00, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

- Strong oppose I strongly suspect that AffCom is violating the Wikimedia Foundation Guiding Principles for last at least 3 years. That suspection was big part of my reason to apply to AffCom, in fact. And Suyash Dwivedi is part of that term of AffCom, so I am very careful. Generaly, I am not going to endorse anyone who applies for any role in WMF until they explicitly declare their commitment to the WMF Guiding Principles (even if implicit commitment may be clear, which in this case is not) or present a clear critique of them based on reasonable arguments and at least a basic proposal to improve the situation about the principles. If you answer my questions, I may change my endorsement. I strongly invite you to explicitly clarify your role in the suspected AffCom's violations (you can find a lot of examples in the AffCom mailinglist by searching something like "Do you consider that AffCom is aligned with WMF Guiding Principles"). Thanks for understanding, and I am very looking for your answer. --KuboF Hromoslav (talk) 22:55, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- Support Suyash is an experienced, conciliatory and dedicated member of the Affiliations Committee. I worked with AffCom for two and half years and appreciated Suyash's wisdom and many kindnesses. He will bring stability and experience to the role. Bunty Avieson (talk) 23:07, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
