Activities
[edit]This campaign will involve organising a series of 8 online sessions to guide participants on how to contribute to it.
- Partners Spotlights: This will involve inviting some of our partners for a 15 mins showcase of their work as it relates to this year's IWD theme "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress."
- Data-a-thons: These events will focus on increasing awareness of existing data pertaining to women-related issues while identifying areas where information is lacking. Host a series of both online Wikidata training sessions to create or improve 200 Wikidata items.
- Writ-a-thons & Edit-a-thons for Women-centric Topics: online trainings on creating, translating and improving 50 articles to address key issues affecting gender equity. These topics encompass issues such as insufficient financing for gender-equality initiatives, poverty, gender-responsive financing, and the promotion of the green economy in Africa. This effort includes expanding coverage of significant events such as Women’s Marches across Africa, ensuring a comprehensive representation of women's issues and activities throughout all 54 African countries. By integrating these activities, we aim to significantly enrich the representation of women-related topics on both Wikipedia and Wikidata, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and equitable digital space.
Here is a comprehensive list of articles/items for participants to work on, ensuring accessibility and structured participation.
