Budget[edit]

Please find a spreadsheet of our budget on this google doc. Column D covers the standard 12-month period from September 1, 2020 - August 31, 2021. Column E covers the four gap months to put us in an existing WMF grant cycle for the future, this column includes a 3% increase for the duration of 4 months, except where noted otherwise (ie software renewals are due annually, and therefore we’ll need the whole budget line in September 2021). Please note, there is a built in formula to round, so we’re not dealing with change. Column F is secured non-WMF APG funding we have confirmed for the period of September 1, 2020 - August 31, 2021. Column G totals the 16-months this Simple APG Grant Application is requesting.

Node funding calculations[edit]

In 2020-2021, we will encourage our nodes to apply for Rapid Grants, under their plan which prioritizes Art+Feminism rapid grants during the month of January. Given the success of last year’s participation, we will again provide guidance to our nodes who express interest in the Rapid Grants program. Per last year, we will be primarily handling the A+F microfunding directly. Art+Feminism will again provide direct funds to organizers in amounts ranging between $75 and $160. Our calculation of microfunding for events was updated during the 2019-2020. This updated formula uses two variables: the number of attendees expected to attend the event (as reported by the applicant) and a base award assigned by Art+Feminism.

A base award is assigned based on where the node is geographically located - with US and Western European countries, for example receiving a lower base amount than Latin American and Eastern European countries.

  • The lowest tertile will receive the base amount
  • The middle tertile will receive the base amount plus 0.75 cents for each additional person exceeding the first quartile
  • The highest tertile will receive the base amount plus a fixed dollar amount that relies on the formula variables (in 2020, this amount was $35 USD)

To remove any barriers to organizing, these funds will be provided along with a signed agreement before an event takes place. In our post-event report, we ask that awardees include receipts along with other event documentation..
