Celebrate Women Wikisource Edit-a-thon, 2024 is an edit-a-thon which is going to be conducted on the occasion of International Women's Day by Assamese Wikimedia Community. The edit-a-thon dates are from 8th of March to 17th of March, 2024. During these 10 days, Assamese Wikimedians will proofread and validate the pages from the selected books included in the edit-a-thon. During this event, members from the community are free to add their favourite book to the edit-a-thon, from the list of incomplete books that are already added in wikisource.


  • The objective of this edit-a-thon is to celebrate women by participating in the wikimedia campaign Celebrate Women.
  • To do an activity to engage Assamese Wikimedians remotely to edit together.

Event Details



  • The contest will run between 8 March 2024 00:01 hours and 17 March 2024 23:59 hours.


  • Proofread and Validate pages of the selected books.
  • The focus will be on high-quality edits.
  • Only edits made during the set edit-a-thon time will count.
  • Only the texts listed in this book list count for edit-a-thon.
  • We encourage you to not edit the same page at the same time. Try to maintain a gap of at least 5/10 pages between proofreaders.


  • To appreciate amazing contributors, a Barnstar will be honoured.
  • Every participant will be honoured with a book by User:JyotiPN

A total of eight enthusiasts completed the proofreading and validating of three books during the event held in congruence with the celebration of International Women's Day. Dibya Dutta, an Assamese Wikimedian helped to make the event successful as a co-organiser. Odia Wikimedian Chinmayee Mishra boosted us up high enough to reach the keys by enrolling the event in Online Asian Editathon list.

Wikimedian Jyoti Chiring received a digital barnstar as an amazing contributor. Each of the participants (total 5) who filled up the google form was gifted with a book by JyotiPN to encourage their dedication.
