Summary[edit]

In Ghana, environmental and ocean pollution is one of the major problems that the country faces. On a daily basis activities by some citizens contribute to the destruction of the environment. These activities pollute our environment and has a very negative impact on our planet as a whole and poses as a danger to the future. This project is in support of the #WikiForHumanRights campaign that seeks more awareness on environmental sustainability.

Activities for the project[edit]

In an effort to advocate for and educate people on environmental and ocean pollution in Ghana, we will visit locations where the problem exists and curate a video to sensitize citizens about the dangers of environmental pollution. The video will be in two parts. The first video will highlight the problems of pollution on our environment and oceans. This video will include a voiceover that will narrate a story about the dangers of pollution. It will display the causes, effects, and areas that are affected by pollution. The second video will focus on interviewing the general public about environmental and ocean pollution and gathering their thoughts on pollution. The last aspect of the project will involve the collation of photos, showing how the environment has been polluted by our deviant behavior towards the environment. This video project will seek to advocate for and educate the general public on behavioral changes to minimize or curtail pollution in the environment.

Our audience[edit]

Our target audience is primarily the general public and the Wikimedia community in Ghana. We specifically aim to engage the Wikimedia community in Ghana because, after uploading the videos and images, we intend to share links with the community for them to distribute across their various platforms, thus facilitating widespread dissemination of our message. Additionally, we plan to embed the videos in some of the articles on environmental and ocean pollution on Wikipedia.
