WMF uses Google Hangouts for smaller meetings (25 people) and Blue Jeans for large meetings (25 people, with the ability to scale up to 100 people). WMF had a need for the ability to host large videoconferences and Blue Jeans now fills that role. Blue Jeans offers similar features to Google Hangouts, such as screensharing, chat, and video participation but allows for a larger participant limit. At its max, Blue Jeans allows for up to 25 participants with a basic account and 100 participants with the large meeting account. Blue Jeans also allows multiple moderators in a meeting.

About Blue Jeans
Blue Jeans is a videoconferencing tool. The product offers similar features to Google Hangouts, such as screensharing, chat, and video participation but allows for a larger participant limit. If you have a Blue Jeans account, you may login to your profile when prompted to do so while joining a Blue Jeans meeting. If not, you may join as a "Guest".
Visit https://bluejeans.com/downloads and install the Blue Jeans Meeting Chrome Extension,
Blue Jeans application, and Blue Jeans Web plugin. You don't need the Blue Jeans Scheduler for Mac, but it is listed here for informational purposes.
Google Chrome using WebRTC is the recommended way to use Blue Jeans. WMF staff have found many vulnerabilities in the non-WebRTC version (the Blue Jeans plugin) and has advised against it. To use WebRTC with Google Chrome, simply open the Blue Jeans meeting link from within you browser.
Note: Screensharing does not work with the WebRTC method unless the Blue Jeans Meeting Chrome Extension is installed.

Blue Jeans Meeting
The Blue Jeans Meeting Chrome Extension adds screen sharing support for users on Blue Jeans WebRTC for Chrome.
- This is an extension around Chrome's Desktop Capture API and is limited explicitly to Blue Jeans' domains.
The Blue Jeans extension allows users to schedule Blue Jeans meetings directly in Google Calendar.
- This extension manipulates the HTML of google.com (to modify the google.com/calendar page). It also includes jQuery.
The Blue Jeans Application makes it easy to join a meeting directly from the desktop. Also it gets rid of the other tabs open in your browser, as well as the URL bar; this makes a nice clean look – great for large meetings.

Scheduler for Mac
This widget allows you to do much the same thing as the Blue Jeans Web plugin, but from the connivance of your Menu Bar.
Joining and Starting a Meeting
There are a few ways to join a Blue Jeans meeting. You can:
- Click the link in the email invitation
- Join a scheduled meeting using the Blue Jeans Scheduler for Mac
- Use the desktop application.
To Join or Start a Meeting from a Link on Your Computer
- Click on the link in the email
- This displays a window with a drop-down menu
- Select browser from the drop down menu then Join Meeting
To Join or Start a Meeting from the Desktop Application
- Open Blue Jeans, and sign into your account if you have one, or login as guest
- Click on Join a Meeting
- Click Moderator if you are hosting the meeting, otherwise click Participant
- Enter in the Meeting ID, and if needed, also enter in the meeting passcode and/or Moderator PIN
- Click Join
Blue Jeans has the ability to host moderated meetings and moderator-less meetings.
What is a Moderator?
- Direct email invites
- Start/Stop Meeting
- Lock Meeting (keep late/unwanted participants from joining)
- Remove/Drop Participants
- Mute All Participants
- Push Layout (view) to all Viewers
Joining as a Moderator
Joining as a moderator, or a second moderator (besides the host) enables more than one person to Mute/Kick/Change Video layout. This is especially helpful in large meetings.
To join a meeting as a moderator you need to know the Meeting ID and the Moderator Passcode. The Moderator Passcode is unique to the person's BlueJeans account and needs to be made available to the other person joining as moderator.
To find your passcode:
- Navigate to BlueJeans.com
- Click "Log In"
- Enter your Username and password and click "Log In"
- After logging in, you should be able to see your name with an arrow next to it – click that, then click "My Settings"
- From this screen, click on Room Settings
- You should see your Moderator Pin
To join as moderator from BlueJeans.com:
- Navigate in your browser to BlueJeans.com and click "Join Meeting"
- In the drop-down box labeled "Join As" select "Moderator"
- Enter in the Meeting ID, Passcode, your Name and click "Enter Meeting"
To join as moderator for BlueJeans application:
- Click "Join a Meeting"
- Click "Moderator"
- Enter Meeting ID
- Enter Passcode
Use this to focus participants in on a particular speaker.
It can be used with different views
- Constant Presence
- Active Presence
- Active Speaker
Useful when sound is coming from speakerphones. People cannot rearrange video tiles.

Providing Meeting Feedback
At the end of the meeting, you're prompted for how the meeting went. This information is internal to the Wikimedia Foundation. The quality rating goes to WMF Office IT, not Blue Jeans.
