Indic Wikisource of the month is initiated by the CIS-A2K team to support the 12 Indic Wikisource language communities in India. Last 4 years we have observed that during the Indic Wikisource proofread-a-thon, only 6 active language communities have a good volunteer base. The rest of the 6 communities have not remarkable contributions and participation had not been shown. Rather say the project is inactive. and another part all relatively active communities are facing some technical issues and community strengthening is needed. To resolve those issues we have launched this program.

Welcome to the Proofread of the Month! Each month, the Wikisource community chooses a text that needs to be proofread. Anyone can help. The purpose of this project is to increase the number of proofread texts on Wikisource and to help improve the overall quality of the project.

  • Each month, the challenge aims to proofread and validate several texts.
  • It provides a safe space for new users to learn about Wikisource.
  • The texts are featured for a maximum of three months with a few exceptions.
  • The challenge builds Wikisource's core collection and makes free, scan-backed ebooks accessible to everyone.
