Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Archive/All projects in the same watchlist

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

All projects in the same watchlist

NoN Outside the scope of Community Tech

  • Problem: For editors who work on various projects, we sometimes review the watchlist of a project and only see the changes when we access that particular project.
  • Who would benefit: To all the editors of several projects, to have all the data in the same watchlist.
  • Proposed solution: Currently in Wikipedia we can enable a field to review the changes that are made in Wikidata of the articles we have in follow-up, but we can not have all the projects in one place, so it would be beneficial to have buttons to enable the other projects and other languages.

@Vanbasten 23: Is this basically phab:T5525 ("Cross-wiki watchlist")? --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:12, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :DDDD --Vanbasten 23 (talk) 18:44, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Vanbasten 23: Hello. Thanks for submitting a proposal. This wish (Cross-wki watchlist) ranked #4 in the first ever wishlist survey we held. We worked on it for several months but did not end up finishing the project. We realized that this is a very big technical project that needs a big team to work on it. Completing this wish is outside the scope of this team. Hence, I will have to close this proposal. I'm sorry about that. However the good news is that there is another wishlist proposal to bring back the Crosswatch tool which will allow users to view all their watchlists in one place. If you have not used Crosswatch in the past - it is an external tool and not on the wiki. The tool does not work currently and the proposal is to fix it. I would encourage you to vote for that proposal instead. Thank you so much for participating. Ping me if you have any concerns or questions. -- NKohli (WMF) (talk) 19:26, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
