Discussion

@Peter Gröbner: Do you have specific steps which would allow someone else (for example a developer) to reproduce the problem? If so, please see mw:How to report a bug. There are already a good number of (mostly fixed) bug reports about nowiki at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/uSh..A.pIiWK/#R but there might be more situations that have not been known yet. Thanks in advance! --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 13:22, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just mark a part of an unlinked word in the German wiktionary and then link it. Whole the word should be blue, but since there is <nowiki/> just the marked letters become blue. That's all.
I think this is discussed in task T128060. Kaldari (talk) 05:18, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the link. I think I will be going on producing pipelinks like Wortzusatz which can be shortened to Wortzusatz if anyone likes to do. Greetings Peter Gröbner (talk) 07:42, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Summary: This is what happens if you type the trailing characters outside of the blue "cartouche" (i.e., visibly outside the blue link area). This is desirable if you want to link the first bit of a word, but not the rest. (For example, in an article discussing prefixes: `Cisplatin and Transplatin are examples of cis–trans isomerism`). If you type them inside the blue area, then you will not see a nowiki tag (and your label will be piped).
I think this should be withdrawn from the wishlist, because it is working as designed. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:33, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I had understood the difference before, yet I think that unnecessary pipelinks are not well appreciated in the wiktionary. Nevertheless I will use them in the future and refer to this discussion if criticized. Greetings and thanks, Peter Gröbner (talk) 06:44, 3 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
