Community Wishlist Survey 2020/Archive/Notice of editing conflict
Notice of editing conflict
This proposal is global
- Problem: On many wikimedia projects conflicts can arise, when more users are editing the same file unbeknownst to each other. (I remember that in Oracle databases, you got a warning or (b)lock when someone else was already editing an entry you wanted to edit. Just a popup (or another type of message, perhaps even better) would do on Wikimedia sites, say Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Commons, Wikidata, when you start an editing session on a file someone else is already editing.
- Who would benefit: all editors
- Proposed solution: warning message, perhaps not a lock/block on the file i don't know, that would give the opportunity to prevent others from editing (abuse)?

Discussion
- Unfortunately this does not qualify for the 2020 survey because it is exclusively global, so I'm going to archive it. Thank you for taking the time to create your proposal, anyway! MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 15:42, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
