Reference importation tool, as in French Wikipedia

- Who would benefit: All Wikipedia editors on the English site (French site already has this tool)
- Proposed solution: Develop a tool based on the French Wikipedia site tool
- More comments: I am very surprised to see that the English Wikipedia site is far behind the French site, technologically speaking. Not only is the French interface to edit in general more user-friendly, but most importantly, it includes a great tool to generate the reference from a publication's DOI, URL, or title (among others). I highly recommend that you take a look and develop a similar tool (conceivably, the code from the French Wikipedia site could be re-used). This is now standard in other web sites. For instance, HAL, the French "Archives ouvertes" of the CNRS, also has a similar tool. This is where French scientists are supposed to reference their publications and whenever possible, enter the unformatted drafts of their papers. See: https://hal.archives-ouvertes.fr/ But my point is that at least two web sites (and possibly many more) have great tools to generate references from identifying information, and the main (English) Wikipedia web site lacks this. The difference in user (editorial) experience is such that I am now reluctant to work on the English pages and prefer to concentrate on the French pages, where I don't waste my time typing or pasting information that a code could do far more efficiently than me. Please consider this request seriously!

- Response: Thanks DJ; I had not edited much in the English Wikipedia site for a while. I tried this tool and it works reasonably well. This item can be removed from the wish list.
