Community Wishlist Survey 2022/Editing/Tool to add Wikidata to an article/Proposal

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
  • Problem: Adding linked Wikidata data to articles like by using Template:Wikidata (Q8478926) is not user-friendly. You must inconveniently navigate between the item you want to add data from and the template editor in the VisualEditor. You cannot find the statement you are looking for or edit the Wikidata on Wikipedia from the editor itself.
  • Proposed solution: Make a tool that allows you to add data from Wikidata directly to an article's text. You should be able to:
    • Search for an item to add from.
    • Browse and select the value from on the item you want to show
    • Edit the statements and references of an item.
  • Who would benefit: Editors from making editing easier and readers from consuming centralized, directly-sourced Wikidata data.
