Cross language interface issues

I have been exploring different language versions of Wikipedia. Several of the European language versions appear to use similar software and structure, but one - the Italian version, seems to use an earlier version of the standard software and structure. Thus it does not seem to have the same interface to support User space and User talk space, and it does not recognise alternative language versions as do most of the others.

It is possibly a good thing that different language versions use different versions, as this might give variety, and the developers in one country may discover structures which are more useful for them. On the other hand, there are clear advantages to having the best features within all versions, and a consistent user interface.
