The ESEAP Conference 2024 was the bi-annual Conference of Wikimedia East, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Regional Cooperation (ESEAP) 2024 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, held on 10-12 May 2024

Things learned at the conference

1. 1. I met with other wiki contributors with different backgrounds and experiences in their community
2. 2. I got a lot of new idea from them how to build and expand our community in our surroundings
3. 3. I have a lot of experiences when visited Mari-Mari Cultural Village Trip. I get some of the cookies and houses are near the same In Indonesia especially in the East Part of Indonesia. But they arrange the location of Mari-Mari to be a nice tour package; the locations, food and attractions to be very interesting and memorable.
4. 4. I got the same panorama with Indonesia when take a walk to traditional market.
5. 5. All the presenters explained their project in clear, educated and expertise

Scholars at the Mari Mari Village

When my name was included in the list of recipients of the 2023 ESEAP scholarship, how proud I was at that time. When I checked the announcement in my email. Alhamdulillah, name is on the scholarship list. I prepared everything to tavel to Kinabalu. When I ordered my ticket, I was faced some trouble. I have to reserve two flights. Firstly, I had to order a domestic ticket from Ternate to Jakarta. Secondly, I had to order a ticket from Jakarta to Kinabalau. Because I was afraid of ordering the wrong ticket with the connecting flight, I asked the committee to help me and thank God they were happy to help. All things solved it by the committee. A few days later. My domestic ticket was canceled by the airline. I panicked and told the committee again that my domestic return ticket had been canceled by LION Air. And asked the committee for help me again to reschedule my round trip domestic ticket. And thank God, with quick movements from the committee, they changed my ticket to another flight. They used Garuda Airline for Ternate departures to Cengkareng and returned to Ternate using Lion too. And a day later after my ticket was issued, it turned out that LION Airline again moved my flight to Batik Airline. Oh my God, my flight to this conference was so complicated. in short, finally thank God, everything was resolved. Thank you for the committee in handling all my problems.

Doing after the ESEAP Conference

While attending the ESEAP conference, I was very impressed because all those present who came from various countries became like a big family, a Wiki family. They share the knowledge about how they develop wiki projects in their communities and how they organize their most spectacular projects. From the results of this conference, I will try to share all experiences I have gained to the community in Ternate City, North Maluku Province, East Part of Indonesia.

Hope for the future

I hope that ESEAP can be carried out continuously to expand the joint collaboration network in managing Wikipedia projects jointly and collaboratively between countries so that knowledge can be expanded and liberated more widely. And hopefully this friendship will continue forever.
