I participate The ESEAP Conference 2024 which took place in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia on 10–12 May 2024. Wikimedia Foundation grant me the full sponsorship to attend this conference.

• ESEAP Conference 2024/Submissions/Awareness of copyright issue in South Korea

  I present that lack of awareness about copyright issue in South Korea, especialiy government, law, Namu-wiki topic. Mostly, lack of correct awareness of copyright (and free contents) in many Korean make insufficienct of free contents to Korean Wikimedia Project. Also, it leads strict copyright act for non-profit use. So, most of the Korean source is just 'free' for non-profit use so it is "not free" for everyone. Also Wikimedia project can't use many Korean source neither writing or picture, etc.

Learned

• Freedom of Panorama(FOP) Problem - Many Southeast Asia country, not only South Korea, have FOP law issue. For Example, Philippines not allow any building picture for commercial use.(not have FOP) So FOP is pan-asian issue for free source.
• Taiwanese Community - Taiwan Wikimedia community is opened for many Taiwanese indigenous peoples. They presentation have mainly preservation way for indigenous peoples, and said Wikimedia can active for preserve with minority group.
• Japanease Community - Japan Wikimedia community is small, but very powerful and enthusiastic people group. Recently Japanease Wikipedia survey to their community people. Also recently Japanease Wikipedia collaboration with Malay and Turkey community.
• Wikimedia Diff - Diff is blog platform operated by Wikimedia Foundation.

Disscused & Future plan

Below is any plan or disscused topic after Conference.

• Planning East Asia regional collaboration project with Wikimedia Taiwan and Japanese user group. For example, East Asian Month or East Asian Wiki-conference.
• Korean Wikimedia community need more deep disscusion about IP-masking and New IP blocking policy.
• Try to issuing and contact to South Korea politician about FOP problem.
