Utilization of Wikimedia in Lessons[edit]

Abstract/description[edit]

Wikimedia projects belong in education hence it is strategic to promote these open educational resources among teachers and engage them in our movement. Wikimedians who are teachers by profession have a great opportunity to impart to their colleagues and students how valuable Wikimedia is as a free resource and as a platform to share useful learning materials. Academic institutions can serve as a venue to clarify misconceptions and apprehensions about the utilization of open educational resources.

This session will serve as a venue to impart educational initiatives in the Philippines that can resonate to communities in ESEAP and beyond.

At the end of the session, participants would learn how Wikimedia is being utilized by the Department of Education in the Philippines
Teacher-Wikimedians would reflect on the educational benefits of utilizing Wikimedia in the teaching-learning process
Participants would learn how to engage teachers in our movement and bridge the gender gap in the process
