From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

The ESEAP Hub Interim Committee agreed in this meeting on further details of its decision-making method and decided to accept two new members to the Committee. One of the East Asia members gave an update regarding the open call of a Japanese representative, and the Committee agreed on the next steps. The Committee also briefly discussed the declaration document and decided on the initial steps for drafting its roles and responsibilities document of ESEAP Hub. In addition, the Committee also made decisions for the action points of the UNESCO project, as well as further details regarding presenters for the next ESEAP general meeting.

Ongoing Work[edit]

The Interim Committee is currently working on the following things:

  • The recruitment of a Japanese representative has moved into the second phase, with East Asian members proceeding with directly inviting specific individuals due to the lack of interest expressed at the first phase of the open call. All members are invited to share suitable candidates with the East Asian members who are leading this recruitment, in order to secure a new member to be onboard in the next Committee meeting.
  • Planning for the next steps of the declaration document and the roles and responsibilities document of ESEAP Hub.

Decisions[edit]

  • The Committee decided to execute simple majority decision-making by having all members express whether they object or not when there is a proposal or a decision-making point.
  • The Committee decided to accept two new members to join its Committee, one from Malaysia and one from New Zealand. There will be nine members in total once the two new members come aboard, and there will be ten members in total once the recruitment of a Japanese representative has been completed by the end of the month.
  • One Committee member will start drafting the roles and responsibilities document in order to translate the declaration needs into concrete actions. The document will build on past hub discussions and documentation from the region. All members should share their feedback regarding the declaration document and the roles and responsibilities document.
  • The member from Indonesia will be leading the collaboration of the UNESCO project going forward, including setting up the project page and the project committee as well as liaising with related Foundation staff. The Committee will be informed once there is further information and development.
