Wikimedia Serbia participated in the State Seminar of the The Mathematical Society of Serbia
The traditional winter state seminar of The Mathematical Society of Serbia, which is designed for teachers of mathematics and informatics in primary and secondary schools, was held on January 14 and January 15, 2023, at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade. Nebojša Ratković, Education program manager of Wikimedia Serbia, gave a presentation on How can Wikipedia be used in mathematics and informatics classes? During the presentation, he pointed out that the main change in the modern conception and practice of education is the shift of the focus from teaching content to outcomes and the learning process and its results. School learning should be designed so that the students take an active role in the process of acquiring knowledge and developing skills. The main goal of teaching is to encourage the development of students, who will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in everyday life. Since the beginning of the Education program of Wikimedia Serbia in 2005, Wikimedia Serbia has been working to achieve these goals and to promote the use of Wiki projects in schools in the right way.
