On November 17th, Wiki Movimento Brasil held an editing marathon entitled "Open Science: Wikipedia in the construction and dissemination of scientific knowledge". The event was part of a discipline called Thematic Seminars of the Post Graduation Course in Human Communication Health at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de São Paulo (FCMSCSP - Brazil). On October 27th, Wiki Movimento Brasil (WMB) held a live launch of WikiConecta, a free course aimed at educators who want to know how to use Wikimedia projects in university outreach courses. The presentation was done by Amanda Chevtchouk Jurno, WMB's manager of Education and Scientific Dissemination. She explained how the course works and answered questions from participants of the live.

During the event, participants got to know how Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects can contribute to university outreach; what tools and resources are available to educators; and learn how to create and manage outreach courses with Wikimedia projects.

WikiConecta is an online, asynchronous and free course developed at Wikiversity that can be taken in the order and speed that best suits the participant. With it, educators can see how Wikimedia projects are an incredible space to develop outreach courses and create free knowledge to circulate widely, impacting society in a positive and meaningful way.

Wiki Movimento Brasil's partnerships with Brazilian universities involve carrying out training on Wikimedia projects with students and teachers. At meetings, the team presents basic editing tutorials on Wikimedia projects so that students can develop the activities proposed by educators with confidence and guidance.

On November 16, members of the WikiDesign outreach project of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) promoted the activity Wiki Encontro Lapa-RJ. In partnership with Professor Barbara Necyk and with Wiki Movimento Brasil's support, they took a photo tour through Lapa, a historic neighborhood in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The event was held as part of the “Image Theory and Technique” course, taught by Professor Barbara Necyk, and gathered 24 participants, most of whom were students on the design course at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). The in-person activity sought to develop the participants' perspective on the architecture found in the neighborhood where the Escola Superior de Design Industrial (Esdi/UERJ) is located. After the tour, the WMB team carried out a capacitation workshop in the Esdi/UERJ computer room and trained students on how to upload images taken during their photo tour to Wikimedia Commons.

You can find the results of the activity carried out by the students through the program page on the dashboard and in the Wiki Encontro Lapa-RJ category on Wikimedia Commons.
