The Door of the Library is Open
The presentations of experts from all over Poland concerned schools, pedagogical, universities, and public libraries. Their activation activities were presented, also related to Wikipedia (including the initiative #1Lib1Ref). The program also included visiting one of the main libraries in Warsaw, workshops on editing Wikipedia (live and online) and a workshop on design thinking methods. The main point of the program was the presentation of the report written by Paulina Sobiesiak-Penszko Ph.D. entitled "Cut wings. The situation, challenges and potential of librarians and school libraries".
The survey was conducted for Wikimedia Polska in the spring of 2022 among more than 430 employees of school libraries. The questions concerned both the condition of the institutions (equipment, finances, activities) as well as different competencies of the school librarians. We were also interested in their assessment of cooperation with students, parents, and school staff. We will soon prepare a summary of the report in several languages.
