Edu Wiki Camp 2023 – together in Sremski Karlovci
The Edu Wiki camp was held at the Radulovacki Ecological Center in Sremski Karlovci in Serbia in July 2023. The participants of the camp had the opportunity to learn about the programs and projects of Wikimedia Serbia, but also to improve their skills, which will help them in further volunteer engagement in Wikimedia Serbia. This year, the camp gathered 17 students from different parts of Serbia.
The Edu Wiki Camp is an opportunity for interested pupils and students to gain knowledge about Wiki projects, but also to learn how they can implement Wiki activities in their environment, primarily in their schools or colleges. This year's team of lecturers consisted of education program manager Nebojša Ratković, manager for cooperation with cultural institutions Gorana Gomirac, diversity program manager Nevena Rudinac, as well as executive director of Wikimedia Serbia Ivana Madžarević.
The program of this year's Edu Wiki camp was divided into larger units, which focused on three projects – Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata, and the fourth unit consisted of interactive workshops on project writing and assertive communication. The Edu Wiki camp was designed with the idea that after the end of the camp the participants work on the promotion of free knowledge and the presentation of Wiki projects in academic environment. During the lectures and workshops interactivity was encouraged, but great attention at this year's camp was paid to the activities aimed at connecting participants and team building.
