The Executive Team of the Yorùbá Wikipedia Fan Club Offa paid a strategic advocacy visit to the management of Arolu College of Education, Ilemona, in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, to propose the establishment of a campus-based Yorùbá Wikipedia Fan Club. The visit focused on promoting digital literacy, indigenous language preservation, and integrating 21st-century knowledge-sharing skills into teacher education. During the meeting, discussions centered on building a collaborative partnership that would empower students to contribute to the Yorùbá Wikipedia, document local history and culture, and combat misinformation about indigenous communities. The College management warmly received the proposal, and further details of the collaboration are expected to emerge soon. On 3 March 2026, the Karavali Wikimedians User Group organized an awareness programme on Language and Culture Protection at Purnaprajna College (Autonomous), Udupi, as part of the Wiki Education Program. The event took place at Centenary Hall at 11:30 AM IST and aimed to educate students and faculty on preserving linguistic and cultural heritage through digital platforms. The programme was organized in collaboration with the Kannada Department and IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) of the college. Key organizers included Dr. Manjunatha Karaba (HoD and Associate Professor, Kannada), Dr. Sathish Chitrapu (Associate Professor, Kannada), and Dr. Vinay Kumar (IQAC Coordinator). However, after decades of effort, it remains a reality that neither the open-access movement—including its various initiatives and publisher models-nor librarians themselves have been fully effective in truly "unlocking" the world’s research.
