Applying for a Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom grant[edit]

Certified Trainers of the Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom program can apply for funding to develop their first implementation of the program. The call for applications is announced directly to the network of Certified Trainers and the proposals are evaluated by the Education team. The application form consists of a project proposal that includes a statement of purpose, goals of the program, activities, budget, and evaluation strategies. In the first round of grants launched during 2022, we were able to fund 6 implementations taking place in Mexico, Guinea, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, and Ukraine.

Reporting Requirements of Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom grants[edit]

For those that have received funding for Reading Wikipedia in the classroom in 2022, the reporting requirements are outlined here. Three reports are required:

  1. Initial submission of needs assessment and planning outcomes
  2. Mid-project monitoring report
  3. Final evaluation report

  • Analysis of data collected from pre-program surveys and interviews
  • Details of any partnership agreements
  • Details of outreach activities

Tools that support the needs assessment report:

  • Number of teachers registered
  • Number of teachers actively participating
  • Screenshots or photos of training activities
  • Summary of progress toward project outcomes
  • Summary of challenges/lessons learned or any
    outstanding circumstances that may prevent the project from achieving its outcomes

  • Reach, participation, and certification metrics
  • Data about assignment participation and completion
  • Analysis of evaluation data from surveys and interviews
  • Teacher’s learning outcomes
  • Ways to improve the program for the future
  • Annex that includes the final assignments submitted by teachers
