Eight regions[edit]

It has been proposed that Wikimedians from eight regions of the world should be represented on a Movement Charter drafting committee.

  • ESEAP: East and Southeast Asia, and the Pacific region
  • SAARC: South Asia
  • MENA: Middle East and North Africa
  • Indaba: Africa, as per Wiki Indaba, an approximately annual conference
  • CEE and CA: Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia
  • Northern and Western Europe
  • Latin America and the Caribbean
  • North America (sometimes including the Caribbean); see WikiConference North America

2022 Wikimedia Foundation regions[edit]

As of 2022, the Wikimedia Foundation is organizing its activities around the following eight regions:

Nine regions[edit]

Sometimes a ninth category appears, for Thematic Groups, which are not defined or linked mainly to a geography.
