Welcome to the Let's Connect Learning clinic on Developing education initiatives through Wikimedia partnerships: the case of WMCO! Organised by the Let's Connect in collaboration with the Campaigns Programs team of the Wikimedia Foundation.

Event Description[edit]

We hope you are feeling well. We invite you to participate in the Learning Clinic “Developing educational initiatives through Wikimedia alliances: the case of Wikimedia Colombia” from the Let's Connect Working Group. We are very excited to have the Latin American and Caribbean region as the protagonists of our learning sessions, so your participation is very valuable.

Who will share[edit]

The clinic will be led by Melissa Guadalupe Huertas (Senior Learning and Skills Strategist, Wikimedia Foundation), Brisa Ceccon (Latin America and Caribbean Partnership Manager, Wikimedia Foundation) and Manuel Franco (Education Projects Coordinator, Wikimedia Colombia). The session will be facilitated by Rocío Aravena (Liaison with Latin America and the Caribbean. Let's Connect).

What is the focus of the session?[edit]

This session is oriented to share experiences of alliances and collaborations for the implementation of Wikimedia initiatives in local contexts. Specifically, it will present WMCO's experience in developing the Reading Wikipedia initiative in its territory and will put a special focus on the development of strategic alliances with various relevant actors, including the Wikimedia Foundation and the Colombian Ministry of Education.

What can you expect to learn during this session?[edit]

  • Participants will be able to identify key components to promote strategic alliances and collaborations for the development of Wikimedia educational initiatives in their local contexts.
  • From the WMCO experience, participants will learn about the challenges and opportunities for the chapter in implementing strategic alliances with key national stakeholders.
  • Finally, participants will be able to learn how the Wikimedia Foundation can support the development of local initiatives.

What do I need to prepare for the session?[edit]

It is not mandatory to prepare anything, however, you can review the following supplementary material to arrive at more information for the session:
