* What are you hoping to achieve?
My main goals for attending Wikicon Australia 2024 are Networking and Community Building. I hope to meet and collaborate with other Wikimedia enthusiasts, editors, and organizers from across Australia and the world. Building connections and strengthening skills is crucial. I want to share my experiences, insights, and best practices as an active contributor and user group co-founder. Presenting my work and learnings can benefit the broader community.I aim to attend sessions and workshops that will help me develop new technical, organizational, and leadership.
- What skills are you hoping to learn?
Some key skills I hope to develop or improve at Wikicon Australia 2024 include: Project Management. Learning effective techniques for organizing Wikimedia-related projects and initiatives within my user group. Community Engagement: Gaining insights into best practices for recruiting, onboarding, and retaining active contributors. Content Creation: Enhancing my abilities to create high-quality, engaging content for Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms. Technical Skills: Expanding my knowledge of tools, templates, and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of my editing work. Advocacy and Outreach: Developing stronger skills in promoting Wikimedia and open knowledge within my local community.

As an experienced Wikimedia contributor and user group co-founder, I would be honored to share my knowledge and expertise with the Wikicon Australia 2024 attendees about Effective Strategies for User Group Management. Sharing best practices for establishing, growing, and sustaining a successful Wikimedia user group. Share how I Engaged New Editors. Approaches for onboarding and mentoring new contributors to ensure they have a positive and productive experience. * What sessions have you proposed?
"Sustaining a Thriving Wikimedia User Group"
In this session, I will share my experiences and lessons learned as a co-founder of a Wikimedia user group. I will cover strategies for establishing a strong organizational structure, recruiting and retaining active members, and effectively managing projects and initiatives. Attendees will gain practical insights to help them build and maintain successful user groups in their local communities.
