A brief introduction to Wiktionary and how to use it for First Nations Languages[edit]

Abstract/description[edit]

At the 2024 ESEAP Conference I was given the chance to learn more about Wikitionary and be very inspired by what was happening in this space and how it has been used to document Indigenous languages throughout our region.

I would like to provide a brief introduction to Wikitionary and how it works/the role it serves and how it can be used to document First Nations Languages in Australia.

What I am hoping to achieve[edit]

  • Provide a brief introduction to Wikitionary and the number of languages it represents.
  • Look at the representation of Australian Indigenous languages.
  • Talk about future projects we could work on in this space.

Relationship to Wiki skills or to the theme[edit]

It is a First Nations topic and relates to Wikitionary skills.
