DescriptionThis material makes trains to float in the air.tif
English: This material makes trains float in the air. Supersmall picture of a superconductor. At relatively low temperatures (95 K, -178.15 0C) this superconductor material Yttrium barium copper oxide, which crystals are seen on the picture could be compared to Napoleon. Instead of leading soldiers to war, this material leads electrons where needed without any significant resistance. Even though the YBa2Cu3O7−x crystals are small their influence in macroscopic levels is significant. They are used in superconducing supermagnets and technologies of high-speed trains (ca 600 km/h).
Eesti: Materjal, mis paneb rongid lendama. Üliväike pilt üliheast juhist. Ülijuhi jaoks kõrgel, kuid tavamõistes siiski madalal temperatuuril (95 K, -178.15 0C) võib pildil kujutatud ütriumbaariumvaskoksiidi kristalle võrrelda Napoleoniga. Sõdurite asemel juhitakse siin aga elektrone ilma igasuguse takistuseta sinna kuhu vaja. Vaatamata väikestele kristallidele mikrotasandil, on YBa2Cu3O7−x makroskoopilisel tasandil suur tegija, leides kasutust nii ülijuhtivate supermagnetite kui ka ülisuurtel kiirustel (ca 600 km/h) liikuvate rongide tehnoloogiates.
