GlobalWiki aims to replace global files on Meta as it is only for documentation and discussion of Wikimedia projects. It will take the lead of being the central wiki instead, replacing Meta.

Warning! When the WMF creates GlobalWiki, they must move all global user pages, scripts, and styles from Meta-Wiki to GlobalWiki.

It is not reccomended that we use a documentation wiki for global user data. We're already on Meta. We don't need to use Meta for global user data. To fix this, we may want GlobalWiki instead, since Meta as our global user data wiki is a joke. Let's switch to another wiki for the data, while using Meta-Wiki for the documentation.

Wikipedia would not be for this data either - it is an encyclopedia.

An easy solution is to create a newer central wiki, rather than continuing to use Meta to do this.

GlobalWiki will also speed up the actions with enough space for Meta-Wiki, so the actions are quick. Some features and all global action requests will still be at Meta.

One of the main private settings of Meta is that you and the WMF can't close it, even with hacking. Meta will remain open.

  • Strong oppose Meta and Commons are good enough. By creating this, all we're doing is making a change for something that's perfectly fine and does absolutely nothing. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs) 06:00, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not now. This would be a rather substantial undertaking and change, with negligible proposed purpose. Something like a globalwiki very possibly may develop in the future, as there are technical ideas floating around that may require a new global repository of some sort. The concept surely will be revisited if/when there is a more significant purpose for such a wiki. Alsee (talk) 03:58, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
