From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
Align with Distributed Proofreaders
Provide more support for proofreading skills and wiki-editing skills. Build better learning resources-look to Distributed proofreading www.pgdp.net/ as an example. Also create link with DP as recruitment/opportunity for proofreaders to diversify.

Project idea

[edit]

What is the problem you're trying to solve?

[edit]

Skill barriers are a major hurdle for women engaging in wikiwork. From Distributed Proofreaders to Wikisource to wiki generally would give scaffolded support to build skills. Help for proofreaders needs improvement.

What is your solution?

[edit]

Network with Distributed Proofreaders to encourage their proofreaders to work on Wikisource. DP is an excellent training ground for proofreaders; DP has a surplus of L1 proofreaders who are building skills-they could work at Wikisource-until they can/want to reach L2 or higher levels.

Align DP proofreading and formatting guidelines and Wikisource Help.

  • Sounds like a good idea. Pengo (talk) 02:33, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
  • Endorse. I don't know what "Distributed Proofreaders" are, but i would like to gain grammatical and proofreading skills myself. I am positive that improved proofreading skills would go a long way in creating better writers, too. If you get this program started, sign me up! Wordreader (talk) 09:25, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
