What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]
Students, citizens, and policy makers are unfamiliar with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. As a result, there is insufficient dialogue and attention directed toward solving human rights problems, worldwide.
What is your solution?[edit]
Engage students in researching, writing, and assessing Human Rights status reports that each address one Article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for one country they are familiar with. This is a preliminary step towards establishing an Olympics-style event where countries compete based on their Human Rights protections, rather than on their sports prowess.
Project goals[edit]
The immediate goal of this project is to write, share, and evaluate at least 100 Human Rights status reports. This will increase awareness of Human Rights, and focus attention on Wikiversity as a forum for learning, sharing, and assessing Human Rights, worldwide. The Existing Wikiversity Course, Assessing Human Rights, prepares students for this task.

Engaging colleges and universities can attract instructors and students to participate in this effort.

About the idea creator[edit]
I have been developing Wikiversity courses for the past seven years. I am developing the Applied Wisdom curriculum with the goal of promoting well-being, globally. One course in the curriculum, Assessing Human Rights, encourages students to research, write, and evaluate a Human Rights status report.
