Project idea[edit]
What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]
GeoTag-X aims to generate or structure geotagged media for humanitarian disaster responses. We want to enhance not duplicate content that is already tagged, so working with organisations like Wikimedia that already geotag media makes sense.
What is your solution?[edit]
Get everyone working in this space together to figure out plans for integration, for starters. See a proposal here: http://2014.mozillafestival.org/proposals/#data called 'open data in mapping for humanitarian disaster responses' for first steps.
A useful place to start within Wikimedia Commons could be crowdsourced geotagging of https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Location_possible images to increase confidence in their location.
