Project idea[edit]

What is the problem you're trying to solve?[edit]

Only poor go to community and students there have no access to computer and internet. Most of the school do not have internet either.

What is your solution?[edit]

Offline Wikipedia, will facilitate school (mostly Government schools, in remote location) to utilize the Wikipedia dump resource in their school. Both teacher and students will be given guidance to use Wikipedia and its sister sites to grab information. Wikipedia will work as reference to their education.

Goals[edit]

To take the scope of Wikipedia to the mass audience, targeted and backward students and teachers are the case here. We

Get Involved[edit]

Participants[edit]

  • Students and Teachers from Community Schools of Nepal of all classes and ages.

Endorsements[edit]

We have a background working as Linux volunteer; mainly focused on resource sharing, training and adopting open-source.

  • This sounds it may be a good idea, but if you are realy interesting try to specify it more deeply. I cannot e.g. image how this could work in practies. Have you heard about OLPC programe (One Laptop per Children - give laptop to children in Latin America, who does not have an access to internet with a download of Wikipedia) - so they can learn. How your idea would work? What is the female role in Nepal? I there mixed classes? Juandev (talk) 18:12, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Community engagement[edit]

This project is genuinely an end level approach to take Wikipedia to grass level by addressing the difference of have one's and have not one's. This targets those students and schools who have no access to internet and computer lab.

Sustainability[edit]

  • After the project to handed to school, the school administration can create a fund for depreciation of Computer system and sustain it.
  • Also, school can add the Computer science subject in syllabus.

Measures of success[edit]

This project will target the most deprived students with access to internet and information the outside world is seeking.

  • Students gets the basic of community learning and interactive learning difference can be measured later.
  • Or, with other schools students who have no access to this service then.
